Metal Batten Teks is a “new generation” fastener from Buildex which was purpose-built for fixing roofing profiles and cladding to lightweight metal battens.

Traditionally used Type 17’s were never designed for this application, resulting in the following problems:

  • Poor drilling performance
  • Poor connection with the batten resulting in low resistance to pullout
  • Skidding and scratching the roofing profile
  • High end load required to install
  • High wastage of screws due to non-drilling

    During installation, the Type 17 causes the batten to distort severely which lowers the resistance to pullout, causes the batten to distort further with climatic changes and the screw to eventually loosen in the hole.

    Metal Batten Teks features a patented design buttress thread for maximum holding power. The buttress thread keeps distortion of the batten during installation to a minimum by gripping both sides of the batten between the threads preventing any movement. This provides maximum pullout resistance, eliminating fretting around the hole and stopping the screw loosening in the hole.

    It’s extended drilling point and small diameter drill point ensures maximum thread engagement, with up to 20% greater holding power. The Metal Batten Teks features a Hi-Grip thread and ShankGuard for maximum resistance to corrosion.

    Metal Batten Teks are available in 13gauge for use with 0.55mm battens and 15gauge for use with 0.75mm battens. They are easily identifiable by the top hat symbol below the BX on top of the head.
