Installation Problems Wing Teks Products

Wing Teks Fasteners Installing into a top piece of Timber into Metal with Wing Teks

Problem Cause Remedy
Fastener difficult to start and slides on the timber Fastener not driven at right angles to the Timber Fastener not driven at right angles to the Timber
To much pressure is applied to the Cross Recess Driver Bit. Apply a firm and consistent pressure allowing the point of the fastener to cut thru the material.
Driver Tool is in reverse Change to clockwise direction.

Fastener will not drill thru the steel, starts but stops before drilling through the metal The thickness of the metal being drilled is too thick for the fastener being used Refer the Wing Teks Data Sheets
The material being drilled into is too hard or not compatible with Buildex Fastener

Wings do not break off in the timber. The Drill Speed is too Slow For 6,8 and 10 Gauge Wing Teks the recommended drill speed is 2500 rpm. For 14 Gauge wing Teks the recomended drill speed is 1000 rpm

Wings break off in the timber. Too much pressure is applied to the fastener. Apply a firm and consistent pressure allowing the wings of the fastener to cut thru the timber.

Wings do not break off in the steel. The thickness of the metal being drilled is too thin for the fastener being used Refer the Wing Teks Data Sheets

Fastener drill point breaking or burning Too much pressure is applied to the fastener. Apply a firm and consistent pressure allowing the point of the fastener to cut thru the material.
Driver Tool is in reverse Change to clockwise direction.

Fastener drills thru material but will not install into metal. The thickness of the metal being drilled is too thick for the fastener being used. Refer the Wing Teks Data Sheets
The material being drilled into is too hard or not compatible with Buildex Fasteners
Over tightening of the fastener Release the trigger on the driver tool as the fastener meets the metal surface being fixed into.
Driver Tool over powered for the fastener Reduce the power (torque) setting on the Driver Tool.
Use a lower powered Driver Tool

Fastener thread strips during installation. Material being installed into is to thin for the fastener being used. Refer the Wing Teks Data Sheets
Over tightening of the fastener Reduce the power (torque) setting on the Driver Tool.
Use a lower powered Driver Tool
